A Return to our Roots

in Tolchester, Maryland

When Em and Justin first contacted us, we didn’t make the connection with the property address. It was only until we did the initial site visit to measure out the tent and confirm its location that we realized as we drove up the long farm lane… we knew this place!

The property was where Jason and I did our FIRST wedding together as a rental team in 2011, before we got married, when we were still working in the rental department of the family hardware store. I remember doing the tent layout IN PHOTOSHOP and us having to sub-rent a section to make our current 30′ by 60′ pole tent (which was our largest tent at the time! Goodness!) to a 30′ by 90′ to accommodate the wedding.

So, years later, here we were standing on the same property (new owners!) and talking about a much larger tent with far more details, and it felt very humbling to walk the property and know this is where it all started for us.

Em and Justin had a very specific feeling they wanted to evoke for their guests at their wedding, and their focus on their guests was primarily one of the reasons we truly loved working with this couple! When they realized that an outdoor (uncovered) dance floor was an option, we went full throttle with it and created a lighting design that connected the dining tent to a stunning garden with the dance floor inbetween!
